We met at the Dog Mountain trailhead at 9:00am on a typically cloudy early June day- the trail has not changed in the 20 years I have been hiking it-quite steep (2900' gain in just over 3 miles) lots of people and 1/2 as many dogs. The views were great for the bottom half of the mountain, and then we hit the clouds right on up to the top.
Also typical of early June, the wildflowers were in total bloom, especially in the upper reaches-mostly yellow with some Indian paint brushes here and there. After a 40 minute lunch, we continued the loop down to the parking lot- no rain, and again views from 1/2 the way down to the parking lot. It was a 4.5 hour hike, and everyone had a great time!Members: Buzz Blumm, Michael McNutt, Patti McNutt, Cecile Blumm, Madeline Blumm.
