Leader: Joe Sanders
Hike: 8.5 miles, 500 ft (Moderate)

After a couple of inevitable last minute cancellations, the remaining eight Obsidians/ Nonmembers car pooled to the North Trail head at Silver Falls, where we were met by five of leader Joe Sanders friends from Portland, all of whom had done this hike with him years before, when he had lived in Portland. Collectively this made for a lively social group. The weather was perfect - cool and partly sunny. The falls were full with spring run-off. The hike proceeded with no incidents, many cameras and much picture taking. Lunch was taken at the lodge at the South Falls, where the weather was pleasant enough to eat outside. A couple of hikers enjoyed the unique aspect of being able to purchase prepared luncheon food directly at the lodge- a feature most unusual for a hike! We did the full 8.5 mile loop with about 500 ft elevation change, striking out on the right side which passes along the river, directly past most of the falls. Doing it this way, 60/65% of the hike is done before the lunch break, if taken at the south lodge, with about 35 % to completion, continuing after lunch.
