Clear Lake

Saturday, October 13, 2012
Leader: Joella Ewing
Hike: 5 miles, 200 ft (Easy)

A little mist, A little sun, A little rain, A lot of fun. Red, yellow and orange leaves glowed brilliantly against the black lava, and the transparent aqua marine water that gave Clear Lake it's name impressed our newcomers. The only downside was the Ranger District office being closed on Saturday made the pamphlets describing the points of interest on the self-guided nature trail around the lake unavailable. Neither are they available at the Clear Lake Store. So leaders of this hike need to get the pamphlets in advance for weekend hikes. The pamphlet would have answered a lot of questions. The trail, the scenery and the participants were wonderful.
