Maiden Peak

Saturday, October 6, 2012
Leader: Lubos Hubata-Vacek
Hike: 11.6 miles, 2900 ft (Difficult)

We started hiking at 10 am from the Gold Lake trailhead under sunny skies. The trail was dusty in places from the prolonged drought. By 1 pm everyone made it to the summit. We enjoyed good views in all directions, despite some smoke in Three Sisters area from the Pole Creek fire. It was somewhat windy at the summit, so we descended a little on the southern slope and had an extended lunch. We made it to our cars at about 4 o'clock and headed back to Eugene.
