Parvin Covered Bridge

Friday, June 1, 2012
Leader: Patricia Esch
Bike: 25 miles, 250 ft (Moderate)

The weather was grand, with clouds and sun and not too much heat for the six participants of this fun ride. The easiest part was zipping down Pleasant Hill hill onto the back roads of the Coast Fork plain below Dexter Dam. We safely crossed Hwy 58, stopped at the store in Dexter and proceeded on to the objective of our ride, Parvin Covered Bridge. It's beautifully restored, one could still smell the new paint. On the return ride, we just missed having a train go over our heads on a bridge. At the entrance to Elijah Bristow Park, there was a gorgeous field of daisies and lupine. We had lunch at this little used park, passed the Oreo cookie cows again on our way back and chugged up to Pleasant Hill. Unfortunately one driver had locked the keys in the trunk, but after a 35 minute wait, AAA opened the door in 30 seconds! Phew.
