The ride began under clear skies at the Lorane Post Office and followed the Siuslaw River out through the Coast Range to the small town of Drain. The approximately 52 mile loop wound through forested coastal mountain roads involving three significant climbs and subsequent downhill runs. Climbing over the hilly Coastal Range toward Drain was mostly in the shade of the forest canopy on paved roads with very little traffic. After 35 miles we arrived at Drain for a rest/lunch stop at the local cafe. Following lunch the final 15 mile return via 99 and Territorial Hwy went through the farm country of the Lorane Valley where we were greeted at one point by a couple of llamas alongside the road.Members: John Hegg, Lyndell Wilken.
