Three eager backpackers hiked from Salt Creek Falls to Vivian Lake on a gorgeous and warm fall day, taking time to view Diamond Falls on the way up. Tiny black toads were hopping everywhere at Vivian Lake and required a sharp eye to avoid. After enjoying a campfire and warm evening, the group settled in only to discover that fall had arrived by morning with a sharp drop in temps and a shower.
