Six Obsidians met in Cannon Beach on a partly sunny afternoon. We set up housekeeping in a 1910 beach cottage at the north end of town. There were 4 bedrooms, and one hallway in use. We cheerfully divided up the space and proceeded to cook and eat many wondrous meals. The house was warm and snug once the furnace and fireplace were fixed, which was the first order of business upon arrival.
The weather was cooperative throughout the trip, with brief showers only, including a light hail/snow shower at the top of Saddle Mtn. The moon was full, the sun was shining, the mud was very, very thick. Especially on Tillamook Head.
Each of the 3 days we hiked one of the following
Saddle Mtn 5.5 1603' elevation gain
Tillamook Head traverse 6.1 1350' elevation gain
Neahkahnie Mtn to Short Sands Beach 5.1 900' elevation gainMembers: Mary Holbert, Patricia Esch, Jeanne Schmidt, Janet Jacobsen, Pat Soussan, Clara Emlen.
