McDowell Creek Falls

Monday, January 15, 2018
Leader: Janet Jacobsen
Hike: 1.7 miles, 200 ft (Easy)

We drove out of foggy Eugene through the Mohawk Valley for a sunny walk at McDowell Creek Falls County Park, west of Sweet Home. Royal Terrace Falls, Crystal Pool and Majestic Falls were the three show stoppers for photographers. We lost count when our three youngest and energetic junior members viewed any water descending vertically as a waterfall. Lunch at Ixtapa Mexican restaurant in Lebanon added another ripple to our idyllic jaunt. The drive from Pioneer Parkway Safeway to the falls took one hour including a wrong slight left turn off of Pleasant Valley Road to White's Electronics and Museum (metal detectors).

Members: Jacobsen, Janet, Cooper, David, Judy, Caralynn, Cooper, Carla, Judy, Henry, Judy, Lauren, Steggell, Dorene, Hanson, Vicky, Hoecker, Nancy, Carpenter, Kathie, Bennett, Brad. Nonmembers: West, Angela.
