McDonald Forest

Tuesday, December 19, 2017
Leader: Janet Jacobsen
Hike: 7.4 miles, 2000 ft (Moderate)

We stopped first at the scenic viewpoint in Chip Ross Park for a group photo by the Willie Unsoeld monument . Then the rain poured giving us unlimited opportunities to test our rain gear. Karen shared blast off brownies to celebrate Darian's birthday before we had a quick five minute lunch break and then blasted back to the cars. There was no need to take time to inventory who was the driest hiker. Two persons from California walked with us. Thanks to Dave Cooper who checked his GPS when our maps wilted in the rain and the signage was not available at the many trail and road intersections.

Members: Jacobsen, Janet, Morray, Darian, Morray, Karen, Whitfield, Nancy, Steggell, Dorene, Cooper, David, Cooper, Carla, Sutterfield, June, Hawkins, David, Bennett, Brad, Lodeesen, David.

The view up top was a little less than perfect today.—photo by David Lodeesen
