An ascent to the fire lookout on Odell Butte is a good choice when snow conditions elsewhere are abysmal. Good weather and good company made this a fine outing despite surface conditions that were less than optimal. Our group enjoyed a summit lunch with expansive views of the surrounding peaks and a rapid descent on surfaces ranging from soft snow to crusty ice. Everyone agreed that it was another good day to be outdoors in Oregon.Members: Sam Miller, Harold Thompson, Lubos Hubata-Vacek, David Clinger. Nonmembers: Larry Winiarski.
