Coffin Mt./Bachelor Mt

Friday, September 29, 2017
Leader: Janet Jacobsen
Hike: 7 miles, 2135 ft (Moderate)

Fortunately we stopped at a viewpoint to take photos of the distant mountains since they quickly disappeared for the rest of the day. We had a light rain on Coffin Mountain but the Bachelor Mountain trek was dry. The brightest highlights were flame colored vine maple and huckleberry on the trail and slopes. Fortunately the leader’s car running low on gas made it to Rainbow with .3 gallons to spare. It was the first time for Doreen and George to hike the two mountains and they hope to return on a clear day. The views on the four to five hour hike are worth the two hour drive (100 miles).

Members: Janet Jacobsen, Ellen Johnson, Steven Johnson, Dorene Steggell, George Cardenas, Brad Bennett.
