Crescent Mountain

Monday, July 3, 2017
Leader: Mike Smith
Hike: 10 miles, 2200 ft (Difficult)

Eight of us hiked up Crescent Mountain and enjoyed the views on top, lunch up high, on a delightfully nice but not hot clear day. All of the Cascades from Mt. Adams to Diamond Peak were visible. There was one large drift of snow near the top but no other snow visible, a far cry from a month ago, when on my scouting hike, I was turned around by snow. Wildflowers were in abundance--Cascade penstemon, Lupine, mustard, Solomon's seal star flower, false Solomon's seal, paint brush, columbine, phlox, and many more! We had two non-members who took in the joys of a hard hike upward followed by lunch and a quick descent!

Members: Mike Smith, David Lodeesen, Steve Cordon, Jacquie Fern, Cari Soderlund, David Strutin. Nonmembers: Catherine Poulsen, Anne Campbell.
