The ten day forecast gave hope for clear skies for our snow shoe to Big Lake. But as the day approached, a storm was moving in and we were given a 90% chance of rain. I email the group to see if people were wanting to be on the snow in what was turning out to be a rainy day. The response was a resounding Yes. It was a good decision.
Everyone showed up at our meeting place with good rain gear and great attitudes. And while there was light snow and rain on and off throughout the day, conditions were surprisingly good. There was little wind and plenty of packed down snow on the trail. As we arrived at the lake, Mount Washington could just be seen through the mist. Big Lake was beautiful. We lunch by the lake shore and a couple of people explored around the lake. I would recommend a winter trip to Big Lake rain or shine.Members: Daphne James, Brad Bennett, David Lodeesen, Betty Grant.
