Rooster Rock

Saturday, April 15, 2017
Leader: Mike Smith
Hike: 6.6 miles, 2100 ft (Difficult)

On the nicest spring day one could have, 12 of us, including one Chemetakan, got to the Rooster Rock trailhead in mid-morning. The trail was not very muddy, the big blowdown was removed, and we went through snow at the 3200' level with more snow near the top, finding 4 others there, finishing their lunch. There were clouds stacked up along the Cascades, although we could see North and Middle Sister, and there was almost no wind. We descended past Calypso orchids, violets, and Trilliums, through a forest of green, back to the cars. Everybody did fine, and we all had a good trip.

Members: Mike Smith, Lynn Meacham, David Lodeesen, Marguerite Cooney, Ben Brown, David Strutin, David Cooper, Rebecca Eastwood, Darian Morray, Christine Martin. Nonmembers: Andrew McIvor, Alice Laffey.
