Tire Mountain is one of my favorite wildflower hikes. It's relatively close to Eugene and it has both woodland and meadow flowers - we identified 30-35 varieties. With rain threatening, we decided not to hike to the top which does not have a view, but instead, stopped at the last meadow. We hiked cross-country up to the ridge and enjoyed the rock outcroppings and the profusion of wildflowers, making it a 4.5 mile round trip excursion. No sooner did we return to the cars and start back, and it poured! Thanks very much to Veronica and Jorry for driving.Members: Lana Lindstrom, Brian Popowsky, Anne Montgomery, Susan Sanazaro, Jorry Rolfe, Randy Sinnott, Veronica Karpiak.
