Sahalie Falls to Trail Bridge

Saturday, April 27, 2013
Leader: Lana Lindstrom
Hike: 8.5 miles, -700 ft (Moderate)

Trilliums, trilliums, trilliums.... we saw thousands of them. What a wonderful treat to see so many! We also saw a few yellow wood violets, and a handful of calypso orchids. Surprisingly, no fawn lilies. Both Sahalie and Koosah Falls were just roaring with rainbows visible in the mist. Several folks commented that they had never seen them so full. And Tamolitch Pool was as clear and beautiful as ever. We stepped on several patches of snow for the first mile, but the trail was clear and mostly dry after that. The warm spring day was a very fine time to enjoy this hike along our special McKenzie River. Special thanks to all the participants, particularly Richard, Nancy, Mari, and Jane for driving.
