Craig Lake

Sunday, June 9, 2013
Leader: Jim Whitfield
Hike: 6.5 miles, 1000 ft (Difficult)

Our group of 11 met at the Thurston Albertsons and headed east up the McKenzie. Arrived at trailhead and discovered downed trees blocking access to the parking area so parked next to the old Cascade Lodge. We were greeted by the local mosquitoes so didn't waste much time hitting the trail. More fallen trees since last year so this will probably be the last trip on this section of trail. Once again there was a nice breeze that kept the mosquitoes at bay and the temperature down. Snow covered the trail in places and required some searching to continue. Lunch at the lake after which Janet and Rob went swimming. No one else was inclined to join them. It was a nice uneventful trip on a beautiful sunny day. Special welcome to new member Patty Morrow on what I believe was her first trip as an Obsidian member.

Members: Jim Whitfield, Lisa Grissell, Janet Jacobsen, May Fogg, Susan Sanazaro, Daphne James, Holger Krentz, Diane Schechter, Rob Castleberry, Chris Shuraleff, Patty Morrow.
