Iron Mountain

Saturday, June 29, 2013
Leader: Becky Lipton
Hike: 6.7 miles, 1900 ft (Moderate)

Eleven happy hikers escaped the extreme heat of the valley and joined us for this lovely and varied wildflower hike with views from the old fire look out location at the top of Iron Mountain. This is one of the premier wildflower hikes and also features an unusual number of trees and other plant species that are rare or unusual in the Western Cascades. With the unusually dry and warm late winter and early spring, the flower show was spectacular.

Members: Becky Lipton, Nancy Matthews, Nola Nelson, Holger Krentz, Peter Graham, Kitson Graham, Diana Masarie. Nonmembers: Rob Boese, Dan Udovic, Becca Puleo, Eben Fodor.

We started at YOU ARE HERE and hiked up to the summit, then the Cone Peak Trail.—photo by Holger Krentz
