Birding and Bike W. Eug Wetlands

Tuesday, April 2, 2013
Leader: Anne Montgomery
Bike: 14 miles, 50 ft (Easy)

Our merry little group met under grey but dry skies with mild temperatures. We enjoyed a leisurely ride on the West Eugene Wetlands Bike Path. This early in the spring we saw only buttercups and Indian plum wild flowers in bloom. Our bird sightings included red-winged black birds, song sparrows, crows, starlings, robins, mallards, Canada geese, kestrels, ring-necked pheasant, green-winged teals, pintails, shovelers, dunlin, greater yellowlegs, dunlin, egrets, northern harriers, osprey, and turkey vultures. I don't know why more folks don't sign up for this trip as it is so much fun!
