Kentucky Falls

Saturday, May 4, 2013
Leader: Joella Ewing
Hike: 4.4 miles, 800 ft (Moderate)

Lovely day for a lovely hike. Upper 70s and a nice breeze kept us relatively cool. We were the first hikers of the day, arriving about 9:45 and hitting the trail by 9:55. We were back at the cars and leaving by 1:30. Those who were just starting at that time were in for a pretty warm hike. For the first time for me, the viewing platform was dry, thus we did not get sprayed by the falls. The gravel part of the road to Kentucky Falls was terrible. One could break an axel if not careful. We saw piles of gravel as if repairs are planned. Note: Dog poop on the trail is another good reason for us to exclude dogs.
