Don't miss this hike the next time it is on the schedule. Don’t take my word for it. Here are descriptions from old trip reports that replicate our day on the beach.
11/27/82 Only gulls and sandpipers shared the ever-widening expanses with us, and as we fanned out along the sand, we revelled in the sense of freedom that the beach, lacking the restrictions of a customary trail, always provides. (Dallas Cole)
3/24/84 We found enough water underfoot occasionally to make this an “authentic beach experience” as we splashed through numerous tidal creeks. (Dallas Cole)
3/7/87 “Oh, isn’t this a beautiful day!” … “How did you know it was going to be so nice?” … “0-o-o-o-o-oo, look at that ocean!” … “It’s gorgeous — you sure know how to pick a good day!” (Bernie Claypool)
4/5/95 Walking the Oregon beach from Yachats to Waldport is pure delight at low tide, with breakers cascading, shore birds resting near the streams, the wind behind you and the drifting clouds above. To share that with friends is even better. (Birgitte Williams)
5/20/99 At lunch we were treated to rare ancient formations and tree-stumps exposed by the low tide. (Birgitte Williams)
We saw one!
5/9/2000 We spread out on the wide expanse doing our own thing, sharing and solitary.
