After Wayne Deeter and I scouted Spirit and Pinard Falls February 26, I emailed everyone signed up that it would now be a moderate six-mile hike with the possibility of snowshoes. The seven of us who stayed in for the unknown had no trouble hiking to Spirit Falls and then hiking ½ mile in the snow to Pinard Falls. With snow level at 2700 feet, Moon Falls would not be as easy for us to find. Unfortunately, I didn’t give the GPS coordinates in Sullivan’s book to Holger to plug into his GPS. That would have been too easy! We had a beautiful hike up the snowy road stopping in a sunny spot for lunch with a view of Fairfield Peak. We abandoned our “visionary” waterfall and headed back for the cars. Wayne led this hike at the end of February in 2005 and 2006. Wayne wrote, “It’s iffy to have this trail on the schedule at this time of year, but it worked out this time due to our dismally light snowfall.” All of us were glad that we did the hike even without snowshoes.Members: Jacobsen, Janet, Dorland, Julie, Sojak, Darko, Krentz, Holger.
