Spencer Butte from Martin Trailhead

February 2, 2010

Blue skies and sun greeted eight of us for our hour and 45 minutes hike to the top of Spencer Butte. Snow covered Three Sisters and Mt. Jefferson were glowing in the sun. What an Oregon delight to sit on top and enjoy the company and views. Nonmember, Gary Ladenes identified the pileated woodpecker call but only Jim Pierce and Pat Esch saw it. By the time we were back at our cars, the blue skies had vanished in preparation for the predicted afternoon rain showers. The 6.5 mile hike took 3½ hours.

Hikers were members: Pat Esch, Janet Jacobsen (leader), Connie Pierce, Jim Pierce, Ruth Romoser, Susan Sanazaro and Martha Welches; and nonmember Gary Ladenes.
