Lava Lake

January 30, 2010

The snow was poor but good enough for our purposes. There was a light rain here and there but didn’t amount to much. It would have been nice to have a “birder” along to tell us what the flocks of small birds were. Perhaps Pine Siskins. The trail south east of Lava Lake seems level on the way in but save energy for the way out b/c it is indeed up hill slightly. Great solitude. Didn’t see another person. The trails are well marked with blue diamonds (ski) and yellow diamonds (snowshoe)

Participants were members: Brad Bennett, Paul Flashenberg, Danielle Harris, Scott Hovis (leader), Judy Ness, Suzanne Steussy and Elle Weaver; and nonmembers: Linda Coombs and Jolynn Fabiano.
