Cottage Grove/Cedar Creek

July 24, 2010

The forecast was for sunny skies and a high in the mid-90s. Only two riders were prepared to ride in the heat. We car-pooled to the Wal-Mart in Cottage Grove and headed on to the rails-to-trails path at 9:30. The weather was sunny and warm as promised, but not uncomfortable. As we rode up the path by the Dorena Reservoir we chatted companionably and were undisturbed by the temperature. We rode mostly in the shade with a moderate breeze and arrived at our lunch destination next to Brice Creek relatively unscathed. After a relaxing lunch break, we headed back down the road. Still mostly shaded and with an almost continual downhill return, the ride back to to Wal-Mart was a breeze. However, we did feel the need to stop at the ice cream parlour in Creswell to replenish our reserves for the future. Both riders were members: Paul Garrick and Stewart Hoeg.
