Crescent Mountain

July 15, 2010

Weather for the trip was pleasantly warm. We were fortunate to see a profusion of wildflowers as we passed through the extensive meadow below the summit ridge: beargrass was near its peak, and columbine, lupine, phlox, cat’s ear, paintbrush, and scarlet gilia were all in abundant bloom.

Views from the top were unusually clear, with all the Cascades visible south to Diamond Peak. Hikers enjoying a lovely day were members Stephen Brander, Dick Hildreth, Sam Miller; nonmembers Cindy Rust, Caroline Forell, and Emily Hildreth: and leader Bob Smythe.
