Trials Country Bird Walk

May 13, 2010

Hiking through varied terrain, alongside two creeks, through forests and an oak savannahs, we encountered a variety of birds and flora—several kinds of warblers, winter wrens, striped towhees, grosbeaks, jays, hummingbirds, etc.—and at the end of the hike a hawk that had just caught a vole. Anne McLucas and Jim Gillette (who owns the property and made the trails) led and Rick Ahrens explained. The congenial group had eight members and three non-members.

Birders were members Anne Dhu McLucas and Rick Ahrens (leaders), Walt Dolliver, Pat Esch, Bob Foster, Jim Gillette, Cathy Irwin and Bonnie Richman; and nonmembers: John Hartman, Sallyl Knox and Carol Stern.
