Tamolitch Pool

April 28, 2010

Considering all the rain that fell this April, the trail was in pretty good shape. Many water-filled pot holes spanned the trail, but only a few required acrobatics to by-pass. The falls were dry, but we spotted one little trickling spring at the base of the rock face. On one of the first side creeks we crossed, we flushed out a great blue heron. That was quite a surprise. We ‘lunched’ at pool-side and watched two American dippers flitting over the quiet water. The rain held off for much of the hike and we had a surprising amount of sunshine. Wildflowers included red currant, Trillium and Calypso orchids. Thanks to my four companions — they braved a rainy day, but found sunshine!

Hikers were Myron Cook, Walt Dolliver, Jim Duncan, Sharon Duncan and Barb Revere, leader.
