Doerner Fir

November 7, 2009

Saturday we followed Bill Sullivan’s directions to the world’s largest Douglas Fir tree (Doerner Fir). The hike is only half a mile each way, but it passes through a lovely, lush old growth forest. The giant is almost 12 feet in diameter and 329 feet tall. He has an awesome presence.

Participants were Walt Dolliver, Pat Esch, Shannon Harty, Sachiko Iwasaki, Ben Muir, Evelyn Nagy, Charlene Pierce, Jim Pierce and Ruth Romoser, leader.
