Olallie Mountain

October 6, 2009

Only Jim Duncan and I went on this gorgeous day. It turned out to be the first winter hike of the season, as there was snow and ice on the road and up to six inches of snow on the upper part of the trail. The forest is spectacular… especially shrouded in snow. The views of the mountains were great. At times we could see each peak from Bachelor to Jefferson. The Sisters seemed close enough to reach out and touch. The heavy snow obscured the trail so we stopped short of the top. Sorry you missed this early winter outing. — Jim Pierce, leader.
