Horsepasture Mountain

July 5, 2009

After the heat wave the Willamette Valley has been experiencing, the cooler weather was welcome. We had 72 degree temperatures all day on the mountain and a cooling breeze whenever we needed it. Just a few mosquitoes to let us know it was July in Oregon. The beargrass was stellar and we saw many other beautiful flowers like orange paintbrush, lavender phlox and Cascade lilies. On view during lunch were the Cascades from Mt. Hood south to Diamond Peak — what a show! The road report for road #1993 was iffy, but crews had cleared enough that we breezed in with no problems. Thanks to my three companions for coming along. A great time was had by all.

Hikers were Joan Abel, Walt Dolliver, Sandor Lau and Barb Revere, leader.
