North Fork of Middle Fork of the Willamette

November 16, 2008

What a Grand day. We left the valley fog for the sun. . . filtered through 200 feet of forest giants. We hit the trail at 10:30. The trail is excellent for all seasons. The mushrooms were especially photogenic. The creek crossings were tricky, but only a few wet boots. We reached the grove of HUGE cedars in 1.5 hours and ate lunch in a patch of sun beside the rushing river. . . ahhh. Despite photographic delays on group one’s return trip, we were back to the cars about 2:00. Three miles down the road we stopped at the Constitution Grove for another 15 minutes among giants in paradise. Thanks to Barb for leading group two.

Hikers were members Carol Armstrong, Julie Dorland, Pat Esch, Sachiko Iwasaki, Brenda Kameeninui, Joanne Ledet, Lou Maenz, Charlene Pierce, Jim Pierce (leader), Moshe Rapaport, Barb Revere, Susan Sanazaro, Pat Soussan and Marian West, and nonmembers Sandor Lau, Carolyn Sojak and Darko Sojak.
