McKenzie River Trail, Carmen Reservoir to Tamolitch Falls

October 11, 2008

Without another car we were unable to do a through-hike, so we opted to do the trail along the underground part of the McKenzie River: from Carmen to Tamolitch Pool. The “Blue Pool” was, as always, beautiful and peaceful, and our turn-around point. When we arrived back at the car at Carmen we wanted more walking, so opted to hike up to Koosah and Sahalie Falls and found them flush and full. All of the river banks are lush and green like in spring, with little fall color — unusual for a chilly October day. We kept our gloves and warm hats on from start to finish.

Hikers were: Paul Flashenberg, Carol Petty and Barb Revere, leader.
