Trials Country

October 11, 2008

This was a local hike, at a property known as “Trials Country,” which is a five-hundred acre wooded tract Southwest of Eugene at the conjunction of Blanton Road and the Lorane Highway. Jim Gillette and Anne McLucas have laid out a six-mile trail that goes through many kinds of woods, including oak savannah, old-growth ponderosas, madrones, cedars, maples, and of course lots of Doug Fir. The small group (four people total) started at a leisurely 10 a.m., with the sun still hiding, but it came out in time to have lunch along the trail, and we were back by about 2 p.m. Hiking were non-members Nicki Masters, and Robert Coleman, with new member Moshe Rapaport, and led by Anne Dhu McLucas, with assistance of Jim Gillette.
