Maiden Peak

September 28, 2008

The weather was beautiful and the trail was shady. The Fall Classic is so nice because it is so simple, and simple pleasures are the best. The drive to Gold Lake Road is a straight shot, parking in the shade is easy and we were on the trail by 9:45 a.m.

Ten hikers took the pleasant Maiden Peak trail 5.5 miles up to the top where the vistas were 360 degrees, the breeze was pleasant, the temperature about 80 degrees and food very tasty. After about 45 minutes at the top, the group reluctantly began the hike back down, and we were back at South Eugene High School parking lot by 5:30 p.m. Hikers included Laurie Funkhouser, Daphne James, Sue Wolling, Chrissy Anderson, Susan Wanser, Marianne Camp, George Baitinger and non members Chris Molly and Terry Caron, and leader Doug McCarty
