Heceta Head

September 28, 2008

Five of us drove to the Washburne Park day use area in a single car, and found the coastal weather as lovely as in Eugene — low 70s, no wind, and a cloudless sky. The sand was pristine, thanks to last week’s beach clean-up. Pat and Moshe toured the Heceta Head lighthouse while Anne, Yuan, and Ann-Marie shooed away flies taking advantage of the warm, still air to check out our sandwiches. After lunch we hiked back up and down the Oregon Coast Trail to the Hobbit Trail where we crossed the highway to return on the lush Valley Trail. On the drive home we stopped at Alpha-Bits and marveled at the warm, happy communards who served us coffee, tea, and yummy date bars. Members: Pat Endicott, Anne Hollander, Yuan Hopkins, Moshe Rapaport, and leader Ann-Marie Askew.
