Waldo Mountain Loop

September 21, 2008

Three Obsidian members and one non-member completed this 8.8 mile loop hike up over Waldo Mountain and back through Waldo Meadows. The weather was overcast and threatening. While the initial part of the hike up Waldo Mountain was refreshingly cool, after a quick lunch at the lookout, the rain began and pretty much kept up the whole way back. Becky broke out her yellow rain poncho and was treated to a olfactory surprise courtesy of her cat. This added a certain memorable savor to the misty atmosphere of the remaining hike. An abundance of ripe huckleberries provided a much enjoyed compensation for the drizzly conditions. The group returned pretty much soaked through but in admirably positive attitudes.

Hikers were: Peter Asai (leader), Paul Flashenberg and Becky Lipton; and nonmember: Chris Van Steenberge.
