Canyon Creek Meadows
August 16, 2008
It was a very HOT day. Before we even had our daypacks on, we could
tell we were in for it. The hikers fell into a slow, but steady pace.
We were rewarded with meadows filled with flowers, still blooming at
this late date. There were patches of snow and fortunately very few
mosquitoes to bother us. We decided to go to the 6500 foot viewpoint on
Three Finger Jack and actually had a nice breeze on the climb to the
saddle. By following the loop by Canyon Creek it was not as hot on our
return. Non-members: Duane Charters, Daisy LaPoma; and members: Carol
Armstrong, Guy Strahon, Leslie Wright, Charley Wright, Judith Terry,
leader, covered the distance.
