Middle SisterJune 14-15, 2008Stopped at Harbicks for the usual, pre-climb chicken-on-a stick. Hiked from Pole Creek trailhead to our campsite at 7200', much of the way on snow. Got a slightly lateish 5 a.m. start using crampons right from our camp. Passed the usual Mazama dozen as we mounted the glacier. Protected the steep part of the north ridge with a couple pickets. Three hours to summit. Views as far as Mt. Scott and Crater Lake Rim to the south, Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams to the north. After an hour basking in the sun on top we returned to camp, relaxed for a couple more hours, hiked out and finished the trip with pizza at Papa Andreas in Sisters. Climbers were: Lubos Hubata-Vacek and Wayne Deeter, leader. |
