Midnight LakeFebruary 4, 2007With a prompt departure, the crew of four headed up Highway 58 to Gold Lake arriving under blue skies shortly after 9:30 a.m. After gearing up, headed up the somewhat icy road towards Bechtel Shelter. The air warmed as we took the steady uphill climb to make the turn onto the trail towards Midnight Lake. Reached Midnight Lake at about 11:30 a.m. Soaked up the sunny, balmy (45+) weather, visited with the “camp robbers” aka gray jays, and enjoyed the solitude. What a day! After taking an “hour” lunch, took the steady downhill trek which was kinder after the warm weather turned the ice to slush. Had a safe return to Eugene. Participants were: Glen Svensden, Nancy Whitfield, Janet Winter and Laurie Funkhouser, leader. |
