CASA WalkMay 5, 2007Jim Duncan who has just completed the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) training organized an Obsidian group to participate in the 8K walk. Because of a death in the family, Jim asked me to take over as leader. The river path loop started at Marist High School where we met up with Buzz Blumm and his daughter Maddie. Buzz, volunteer advocate who has just completed a 4½ year case with one child, explained how CASA works. Each of us wore a race number with a child’s first name who receives CASA support. It took us 1 hour and 24 minutes to complete the course. Maddie completed two miles by walking around the track. We appreciated the Full City coffee, fruit and homemade cookies. It was fun and rewarding to take part in a fundraiser that supports at risk children. Participants were: Madeline Blumm, Julie Dorland, Janet Jacobsen (leader), John Jacobsen, Ed Lichtenstein and Margaret Prentice. |
