Mt. Fuji

October 15, 2006

In my trip description, I said that we wouldn’t go on this trip if rain were in the forecast. Standing in the parking lot at South Eugene High School, we decided to make a run for it and hope that we would get some cloudy views of Waldo Lake. That hope dimmed as we began putting on rain gear near the top. Wind and mist and no view at all made for a speedy descent to a drier and warmer spot for a quick lunch. Light rain on the way back to the cars didn’t dampen our spirits. It was a perfect trip to appreciate fall colors and check out our rain gear. Stopping at the Dairy Queen for hot chocolate, everyone said they were glad that we made the trip. Barb Revere was the supportive sweep. Nonmembers on their third trip, Steve and Michelle Cordon volunteered to drive and plan to send in their applications. Lou Maenz and Beth Roy will become official members at the October 18th board meeting. It was rewarding to welcome new members on our hike

Hikers were: Barb Bruns, Michelle Cordon, Steve Cordon Lou Maenz, Barb Revere, Beth Roy, Joyce Saunders and Janet Jacobsen, leader.
