Aubrey Mountain Loop

October 13, 2006

The trip to Aubrey Loop this year was very enjoyable. Five of us were able to carpool in one car. The weather was beautiful fall crisp, with warming as we were on the bluffs over highway 58. This trip was scheduled to include a side trip to Heckletooth, but the trail has been used by mountain bikes so much that the steep sections were hazardous with loose rock and dust. There are some steep sections on the Aubrey Loop, and we felt well exercised by the end of the hike! The total hiking time was three and a half hours. Enjoying the hike were Obsidians Dick Hildreth, Chuck Eyers, and non-members Sabine Dutoit and Bill Buskirk. Leader was Peggy Lee Mathes.
