Heceta Head/Hobbit Trail

Four members met the leader at Carl Washburne Park for our varied hike of beach, rainforest and even a lighthouse tour at Heceta Head. We started our loop trip on the beach with the wind at our backs. The trail to the lighthouse was in excellent condition with only a few muddy spots. We saw a few wild iris and some rhododendrons in bloom, on our trip under cloudy skies. The sun broke through about a quarter of a mile before the parking lot so we missed some of the best views on this spectacular hike.
