We left Eugene shrouded in fog, five of us packed into one car,
and headed up Highway 58 to find a beautiful sunny day for our hike
through the woods along Larison Creek.
Larison Cove was disappointingly empty, but we had the amusement of
watching a pickup stuck in the mud (by the end of the hike there
were three “helpers,” all spinning their wheels—a
new form of weekend entertainment?).
After the Cove, we hiked along beautiful, clear Larison Creek, stopping
for lunch in a spot of sunshine on a mossy bank, just before the fork
in the creek where the hike was to end.
We returned to Eugene and the fog, a happy group:
Anne Dhu McLucas,
non-member, but on her fourth qualifying hike.
