Belknap Crater

October 16, 2005

Three people canceled and another three people had to cancel from being “under the weather” including the leader, John Jacobsen. Fortunately John asked Wayne Deeter to lead so that seven of us could drive out of the clouds and light rain to hike under a bright blue sky. The steep trail on the cinder cone was damp that made it easier for us to push upward. There were spots of snow near the top. First timers on Belknap enjoyed the diversity of terrain, the lava fields, and the views of Mt. Washington and The Sisters. Since it rained the previous day, we thank John for selecting the perfect day for the trip and thanks to Wayne for leading. We all agreed that this is a better fall than summer hike. Hikers were Lynda Christiansen, Wayne Deeter (leader), Janet Jacobsen (assistant leader), Daphne James, Sherwood Jefferies, Craig Renkert, Chris Stockdale.
