Kentucky FallsMay 18, 2005Weak sunlight occasionally washed over the muddy trail, but most of the day was spent under overcast and misting skies. The three falls thundered with recent rainfall and took our breath away with their grandeur. A profusion of Oregon iris, bleeding heart, false lily-of-the-valley and false Solomon seal added to this hike’s appeal. Red columbine, oxalis, salmon berry, fawn lily, yellow monkey flower and thimbleberry also dotted the forest floor. At day’s end we, and two other small hiking parties, pronounced it a “great day”! Hikers were Tom Adamcyk and Tom Revere. Barb Revere was leader. |
