Goodman CreekMarch 13, 2004Max Brown, Yuan Hopkins, Wendy Clarke, Barb Sutherland, Daniele Delaby, Sheila Ward, Walt Dolliver, Charlie Van Deusen, Mary Ann Holser, Barbara Schomaker, Pete Peterson and leader Chris Cunningham escaped overcast Eugene/Springfield weather for a half-day hike up the Goodman Creek trail. Clear blue skies and crisp temperatures stayed with us from beginning to end of the four-mile hike. Trilliums and old-growth Douglas fir framed the trail, which follows the contour of Lookout Point Reservoir. We stopped at a pretty waterfall for snacks and conversation before hiking back to our cars. Some wondered why more Obsidians don’t take this hike, which took us deep into a fragrant, mossy forest and is only 25 minutes from home via Highway 58. The trail also can be lengthened to a more rigorous 13.4 (roundtrip) trek to Eagles Rest. |
