Chip Ross/Dimple HillMarch 7, 2004Despite a muddy trail and 35 downed trees to cross, eight hikers completed the hike in high spirits. A truly warm, sunny, spring-like day brought out the early wildflowers: Snowqueen, Indian Plum, red currant, cardamine, Draba verna, and one lone Trillium. Also saw a California tortoiseshell (butterfly). The pièce de résistance was an apres-hike visit to New Morning Bakery in Corvallis to replenish our calories. Hikers were: Craig Bennett, Max Brown, Maggie Gontrum, Clare Pollak, Karen & Lucy Rayle, Iwo Lojasiewicz, and leader Sabine Dutoit. |
